Henry Arthur Jones (28 September 1851-1929) was an English dramatist.

Jones was natural at Grandborough, Buckinghamshire to Silvanus Jones, a farmer. He began to earn his dwelling early, his spare period existence given to literary pursuits. He was twenty-27 prior to his number one piece, Just Around a Corner, was produced at a Exeter Theatre, but in iv years of his debut as a playwright he scored a great profits by The Silver King (November 1882), written with Henry Herman, a melodrama by Wilson Barrett at the Princess's Theatre. Its fiscal profits enabled andy skinner to write the play "to please himself."

Saints & Evildoer (1884), which ran for both hundred nights, positioned on a stage the picture of middle-class life & religion within the united states town, & the introduction of the religious element raised considerable shout. Andy skinner defended himself inside an article published in the Nineteenth Century (January 1885), taking for his starting-point a quotation from either the prolusion to Molière's Tartuffe.

His next good piece was The Middleman (1889), followed by Judah (1890), both right plays, which established his reputation.

The uniform edition of his plays began to become issued within 1891; & his own views of dramatic art have been expressed at times around lectures and essays, collected around 1895 as The Renascence of the English Drama''.
